Review: Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The biggest takeaway from this book- Visit Paris for the food.
It's a fairly interesting read. Not much to stimulate those grey cells but fun.

Review: What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours

What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours by Helen Oyeyemi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an exciting experience it is to read books like this. And it, too, was a birthday gift!
Whatever kind of a reader you may be, you're sure to fall in love with the incredulity, complex simplicity of the stories. Keys that connect stories and secret gardens are supposed to be the highlight but I found the characters more compelling. Saying anything more would count as spoilers. If you're reading this, go get yourself a copy of this marvellous book.

Review: Men and Dreams: In the Dhauladhar

Men and Dreams: In the Dhauladhar Men and Dreams: In the Dhauladhar by Kochery C. Shibu
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thanks for asking to review.
The book turned out unexpectedly good. The storyline is almost smooth, the past and present well handled. There were so many characters, each with their own stories, it seemed like the making of a series. The climax is too rushed.
I recommend giving the book a try.

Review: The Carnivorous Carnival

The Carnivorous Carnival The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Starting a series at book #9 is not what I usually do. But I did and here we are.
The book is not as gory as the author proclaims. The style of writing is fantastic, the characters memorable, a little too smart, and the novel a page turner. I hope to someday buy all the books in the series and binge-read them.

Review: The Slippery Slope

The Slippery Slope The Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bought just the two books at the Hyderabad book fair and am I glad!
They are interesting but I am going to take the author's suggestion of not continuing reading them (because I don't have the rest, otherwise there's no stopping me :).
The characters are so intriguing that you wish to read the whole thing, however, my instinct says the author will not complete the story and I am going to go with it.
I did love the style of storytelling.
